TNSTC: Services for the Masses

TNSTC or the Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation Limited is a public transport company owned by the Tamil Nadu state government’s ministry of transport.  It was founded in the year1972 and its headquarters are located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is the second largest transport corporation of buses in India and its buses provide services to all the cities as well as nook and corner of the state. Besides interstate routes it also provides services to the ad joining states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puduchery and Kerala.

MTC, SETC, TNTDFC are its subsidiary companies. This transport corporation owns 5 workshops and 241 bus depots. Each and every bus which it owns displays the photograph of Thiruvalluvar, the famous Tamil poet,and a verse of two lines is also depicted inside the buses. For different status of people different types of vehicles are provided. Outside the city routes low floor and town buses ply whereas, the largest Moffusil buses ply inside the town routes. Video coaches, Ultra Deluxe non AC coaches, deluxe buses, Air conditioned Volvo buses and semi sleeper coaches operates between major and crucial cities and destinations. Tata Marcopolio and Volvo supply the main bulk of air-conditioned buses. All the divisions of TNSTC have their own units of building coaches. Besides providing transport services to the people it also transports cargo from one place to another. More than 140,000 employees work under it. This state run enterprise is dedicated to its task and caters to the whims of all sections of people.
